Flying-foxes

A late afternoon hike took us to a roosting site of the Little Red Flying-foxes, which were hanging upside-down in incredible numbers, including these two. Flying-foxes are of course not foxes at all, but large fruit eating bats, and are among the most abundant mammals here.

This is the best photo I’ve seen of Little Red Flying foxes. I know they’re difficult – upside down and nervous, but this is great.

  2. This is a lovely shot. It’s interesting though, that you decided to stick with such a warm colour balance. Is it due entirely to the natural light, ie, sunset? It must have been very hard to get such a sharp result without supplementary lighting. Well done.
