Angel Fitor

Angel is a natural history photographer, photojournalist, and writer with a lifelong self-thaught background in marine & freshwater science, who has committed his life to give voice to Earth´s aquatic environments.

He became full time professional photographer in the late 80´s. Ever since, his work has illustrated projects for National Geographic Magazine main edition, Smithsonian, GEO, UNESCO, Netflix, and BBC among others.

His work have been awarded at the most influential photo contests of our time, including World Press Photo, Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Big Picture, National Geographic Photo Contest, Sony World Photography Awards, and Montphoto.

 

In 2021 he was named European Willdlife Photographer of the Year by the German Society of Nature Photographers (GDT)

The same year, Forbes Magazine ranked him 7th out of the 50 most awarded spaniards.

Fitor has been speaker for WildPhotos, and jury member for NHM Wildlife Photographer of the Year, GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and MontPhoto competitions.

Additionally to his own production, he often works as stills photographer, cameraman, researcher, and natural history consultant for leading broadcasting companies, including world-renowned SilverBack Films, and BBC Natural History Unit.

He strongly believes in photojournalism as a tool to lead change on urgent, one-off environmental issues; and in photography to build long-term, trans-generational awareness, empathy, and love for the Natural World.
