Lucas Bustamante

Lucas is a conservation biologist and an environmental photojournalist from Ecuador, based in the Galapagos Islands. His primary goal is to use photography to promote environmental and cultural conservation.

Lucas is a co-founder of Tropical Herping and Savia Fund, a global nature and photo travel company and an Ecuadorian Nonprofit that works in the legal defense of nature, environmental and cultural conservation, and visual storytelling.

His photographic work has been published in National Geographic Magazine, BBC Wildlife, Audubon, Smithsonian, GEO, and other magazines, books, photo exhibitions, and articles. Lucas is a Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Nature’s Best, and World Photographic Cup prizewinner. He has also served on the jury of many of the world’s best nature photo competitions, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the Audubon Photography Awards, and the Nature Conservancy Photo Contest.

Lucas is also a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP), and Nature Picture Library represents his images.
