Ronan Donovan is a field biologist turned visual storyteller who strives to create imagery that brings curiosity and awe to scientific papers. “I like to think that I add heartbeats to data points,” says Ronan. “My visual work surrounds human relationships to our fellow social mammals – wolves, chimpanzees, and mountain gorillas. The work is mission driven, using photos and video to highlight conservation issues helping reframe some of the stuck narratives around modern humans and the non-human world.”
Ronan will give a brief overview of the path he took from his childhood in rural Vermont, to becoming a 2-time felon, to work as a field biologist and what lead him to a career with National Geographic. He will then share images from his work that focuses on conservation stories about social mammals, wolves, chimpanzees and mountain gorillas.
The talk will be followed with a Question-and-Answer session moderated by TPS Communications Director Alex Snyder.
