AndersonRanch Arts Center recently released their summer workshop line-up which can be viewed online here. The workshop catalog states, “Photography workshops have always been a vital part of Anderson Ranch, dating back to the early days…Over the decades, the program has progressively explored traditional and contemporary practices in photography and new media.” Ed Kashi has taught at AndersonRanch for a number of years and is proud to be teaching two courses in 2015.
The first workshop, Visual Storytelling & Documentary Photography Projects Ed will teach in partnership with James Estrin of the New York Times. “The digital age has given documentary photographers and photojournalists new ways to tell stories with greater authorship and control. Our focus is how to create a personal documentary project and get it seen.” This course will take place July 6 – 10 at AndersonRanch.Enrollment is limited to 10 participants. Register now »
The second workshop that Ed will teach is a field expedition to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico from October 30 – November 6, 2015. Taught alongside Andrea Wallace, this workshop will focus on creating a personal documentary project amidst a rich cultural landscape. “During our week in San Miguel, you have the opportunity to experience, document, and immerse yourself in San Miguel’s famed Day of the Dead rituals – a feast for the visual senses. Whether it’s a series of streets portraits or an exploration of local cuisine and architecture, you are encouraged to discover a subject that speaks to a personal passion and document it in a compelling and unique visual style…The workshop includes individual and group reviews, personal assignments and lots of fun. Our goal is to return home not only with images to be proud of, but with newfound skills that expand our overall photographic technique.” Register now »
