María Daniel Balcázar is a journalist and documentary photographer specializing in long-term photographic essays. Her work explores migration, and cultural traditions. In the last decade, part of her practice has become experimental, combining research and poetry to transform archives and memories into images of historical and symbolic value.

She studied Fine Arts, Journalism, Social Communication, and Photography. Her work has been exhibited internationally and published in leading magazines and newspapers. Author of four books: Kilombo, Herederos del Alba, Matices de Tu Mirada, and Invisible Custodians. Recipient of the Ibero-American Visual Arts Award from Fundación Carlos III in Spain and holds a fellowship at IWitness / Florida International University

The talk will be followed with a Question-and-Answer session moderated by TPS Communications Director Alex Snyder. We will also be giving away a signed print by María at the end of the talk.
